“In came the three Miss Fezziwigs, beaming and lovable. In came the six young followers whose hearts they broke.” -- Dance at the Fezziwigs, A Christmas Carol
Introductions of Young Ladies: We will have a formal entrance and introduction for any young lady who wishes, on Saturday evening between 6 and 6:30 pm. The young ladies will enter the ballroom on a red carpet under the crossed swords of young men who sign up as sword-bearers. When registering young ladies, please be sure to select whether the young lady would like to be announced, and whether she made her own dress.
Gentlemen can request to be sword-bearers for the sword arch and/or escorts for young ladies not already taken. We have some (replica) swords available, but we invite any gentleman who wishes to bring his own sword (real or replica), especially a period-appropriate sword.
Fathers, brothers, and friends are welcome to escort a particular young lady, but also gentlemen both young and old are invited to sign up to escort young ladies not already taken.
Each young lady will need to find the card listing her name and then line up outside the doorway. As she enters the ballroom, she will hand the announcer her name card. For difficult-to-pronounce names we suggest writing the pronunciation on the card or discuss with the announcer before getting in line.
If you plan on being introduced, or are a sword-bearer or escort, please make sure to be back early at the Event Center Saturday evening at 5:30 - 5:45.
Since we only have a half hour to announce the young ladies, the formal entrance will be limited to young ladies. (Sorry mothers and adult women 25 and older!)
"In they all came, one after another; some shyly, some boldly, some gracefully, some awkwardly, some pushing, some pulling; in they all came, anyhow and everyhow." -- Dance at the Fezziwigs, A Christmas Carol
